What I'm up to right now

This is a /now page, inspired by Derek Sivers. Think of it as a snapshot of my life right now—what I'm focused on, what I'm learning, and what I'm saying no to. It's more personal than a resume and more current than an about page.

Currently based in the Bay Area, pursuing my Master's in Information Technology while tinkering with Linux servers. Balancing between building resilient systems during the day and experimenting in my home lab at night.

Learning

Kubernetes & Cloud-Native Everything

Finally taking the time to properly understand container orchestration beyond "docker-compose up". Service mesh, operators, CRDs and all the things that seemed foreign before are starting to click.

System Design at Scale

Reading "Designing Data-Intensive Applications" and having those lightbulb moments where distributed systems concepts finally make sense. Also learning the hard way through production incidents.

Go Programming Language

Most of the tools I'll be working with as a Software Reliability Engineer are written in Go, and being able to read, modify, and contribute to them will be a core part of my job.

Life Outside Code

Health

Lifting 3x/week & cardio 5x/week. Not training for anything specific, just trying to build consistency and I've noticed a lot of of improvement in my overall energy and mood since I started.

Bowling

The name of the game is consistency. There's something satisfying about the physics being predictable. Currently holding a 188 average with the Motiv Pride Liberty and Black Widow Mania.

Photography

Weekly adventures with my camera. No agenda, just seeing what catches my eye. Most of my photos these days are landscape and nature as I've grown out of portrait photography.

Chess

Playing chess whether online or offline helps me stay sharp and think several moves ahead. Current ELO of 778 and working my way to 1000.

This page is part of the /now movement. If you have a website, you should make one too.
